Lots of dogs I train and assess for clients have been bombarded and confused with unconditional love .
What they lack is structure and discipline in their lives .
In my view Society in general is unintentionally promoting the same traits in some children . The lack of discipline can lead to behavioural problems. In extreme cases the problem tends to lead to aggression .There is only one way to deal with this super ingression in a dog. The dog has only a limited thought Pattern and understanding for correctional methods.
Firmness then has to take a new level reinstating that I am the pack leader . But we must remember there is a difference between -abusive and firm control .
I don't get angry nor frustrated I become assertive I am sending a primal message to the dog through to its thought Pattern. Its picking up my movement and calculating the Alfa male dominant control that I need to show . We are reading each other, I am not looking for a fight ,I am asserting control showing no fear.
Movement and timing plays a big part, the aim is to put the dog into surrender mode creating a calm submissive state.
Then we can start to build bridges now that the hierarchy level has now been reset .
Dogs don't wake up and say today I am going to become pack leader it is a slow process and most only push forward if they feel a weakness in the household most dogs are more dependent and content with control from a pack leader than becoming one .
Very rarely do we see a true Alfa dog with today's breeding programs in working gundogs . Lines are becoming a lot softer also are our training methods .
Gone are the days the strongest survive .when only Alfa dogs mated .
This is where studying wolves in captivity actually tells us very little about today's line bred dogs.
A HAPPY DOG IS A LOVED DOG A TRAINED DOG IS A PLESURE …………………………………...
